Science Technician

Hours: 10 hours per week, term time only

Salary: Grade 1c3 (Spine 3-6) £6 769.14—£7 062.22

Contract: Fixed term contract for 1 year

Start date: As soon as possible

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to provide high-quality technical support to our Science Department. The successful candidate will prepare and clear practical lessons, maintain laboratories and equipment, support teaching staff with experiments and demonstrations, and support our existing Physics Technician with manual tasks, while ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in delivering engaging and effective science lessons for students across all key stages.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Head of Maths to take the lead in our Maths department. This is an exceptional opportunity to become a key member of staff and to further develop the department with the support the SLT and colleagues.

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years teaching experience, be experienced in team management and can improve pupil progress across a range of year groups.

About Glenthorne High School

Set in the London Borough of Sutton, the school converted to Academy status in 2011 and with its two sister schools, Abbey Primary and Aragon Primary, forms the Willow Learning Trust. Glenthorne High School is a comprehensive school with 1700 pupils on roll, from 11 to 19 years of age, and prides itself on a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.  Past Glenthorne pupils have been highly successful in securing Higher Education at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities and prestigious employment and apprenticeships.

Glenthorne is also the lead school for the Sutton Teaching Alliance and the Sutton SCITT, an outstanding provider of Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Training.

The school is a centre of excellence in the arts and offers selected places to pupils who demonstrate both talent and aptitude in the arts. 

In addition, the school has an ASD Base with 26 pupils.  This department is well resourced, and pupils are integrated into the life of the school.
