UCAS support

  • Course and University Research: We guide students through using the UCAS Hub to explore higher education options, attend virtual or in-person careers fairs, and shortlist suitable degree courses. Students all have UNIFROG logins to support them with course choice and attend UCAS progression pathways lessons every fortnight across year 12 and 13.
  • Personal Statement Feedback: Mentors and form tutors review drafts of students' personal statements, offering critical feedback on how to effectively highlight academic achievements, show intellectual curiosity, extracurricular interests, and relevant experience.
  • Managing Deadlines: We ensure students' applications are submitted on time—noting early deadlines of mid-October for Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry, and veterinary science, as well as the main equal consideration deadline in January.
  • References and Predictions: Predicted grades are evidence-based using performance during year 12 including the end of year mocks, with the aim of setting aspirational but achievable predictions.
  • Admissions Tests and Interviews: Core Group meets weekly to support with preparation for early entry applications / exams and interviews.
  • Results Day: We provide support on results day to help any students who may need to navigate clearing.

Each year students are very successful in obtaining prestigious Russell Group placements across a range of courses, including medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.  The vast majority securing their Firm Choice offer.  We have also had several students taking up Oxbridge places over the years.
