ArtsOne Drama Company

ArtsOne Drama Company is a fun and exciting way to begin to develop drama skills across all year groups. Through creative play, drama exercises and performance, students work together to establish and nurture a range of drama and social skills. Each week, students spend their time engaging in exciting practical workshops that build towards a public showcase at the end of each term.

The staff at ArtsOne Drama Company are highly skilled drama practitioners with drama school, university and industry experience. For the Junior and Intermediate sessions, we give two high-achieving sixth-form students the opportunity to develop their leadership and directing skills by assisting the younger students. This unique set-up has produced some fantastic work in the past, including recent productions of:

Sister Act

Alice in Wonderland

Punk Rock (at Edinburgh Fringe Festival)

Blood Brothers

ArtsOne Drama Company believes in creating an exciting platform for members to demonstrate their performance skills and improve their confidence on stage. ArtsOne provides a safe, creative and supportive environment in which the students can explore their drama practice and develop new interests. We provide a friendly environment where every member becomes part of the ArtsOne family. All staff members strive to offer students performance opportunities to perform in termly showcases that stretch the students and amaze their audiences.

Session 1 (Junior) – 09:00am to 11:00am

This session is open to students from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and includes warm-up games, workshops, and performances. The intention is to build the confidence and performance skills of members who may not have performed in front of an audience before. The sessions are fun and exciting for all involved and they take part in one of the many Drama spaces with lighting and sound facilities available.

Session 2 (Intermediate) – 11:30am to 1:30pm

This session is open to students in years 7 to 9 who have had experience of Drama in primary school or extracurricular clubs and want new challenges to stretch their drama practice. The session allows students to use improvisation and devising skills a lot more than in the Junior session and a lot of the ideas for performances come from the members themselves! The members work towards large-scale showcases, performing full plays and creating immersive, devised performances.

Session 3 (Advanced) – 2.00pm to 4.00pm

This session is open to budding dramatists and performers who are interested in all aspects of performance including acting, directing, and writing. Members of this Theatre Company are part of a unique family that prepare shows termly for large audiences. Preparation involves rehearsals, workshops, promotion and fundraising that all members take part in. The aim is to create a well-known Youth Theatre company that creates new and exciting work. Attending would be particularly beneficial to any students studying GCSE, BTEC or A Level Drama. The highlight of attending this particular club is the extra time to develop technical drama skills and regular performance opportunities outside of school.
