Hours: 36 hours per week; Mondays—Thursdays: 8.15am–4pm, Fridays 8.15–3.45pm.

We are currently seeking a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead on all matters relating to safeguarding and child protection. This is a non-teaching post and provides an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and committed individual who is passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people. 

The successful candidate will possess strong emotional resilience and exceptional communication skills, and will engage confidently with students, staff, and visitors. A warm, approachable manner is essential, along with a firm commitment to consistently upholding our safeguarding policies and procedures.  

Due to the nature of the responsibilities, some flexibility in working hours will be required, including occasional work during school holidays if necessary.

Teaching Assistant (ELSA)

Responsible to: SENCo

Salary: Scale 1c/3 (2-6) (Pro-rata: £21 826– £23 090)

Hours: 33 hrs per week Monday to Friday, Term Time plus Inset days

Inclusive of: SEND Homework Club until 4.15am once a week and 1.5 hours a week for meetings.

Candidates must be able to start work from 8.15am.

Required from: September 2025

We are looking to appoint a professional and thoughtful Teaching Assistant to join our well-established SEND Department. The successful candidate will provide support for our SEND pupils. ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training is essential for this role, as you will be providing targeted emotional support to pupils, alongside in-class and small-group interventions. Applicants currently completing the ELSA qualification will also be considered.

Teaching Assistants are highly valued at the school in supporting our pupils to realise their full potential.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate effective, clear communication with pupils and adults alike, excellent literacy and organisational skills, the ability to enthuse and motivate pupils at all levels and a drive to improve future opportunities available to our pupils. This role would suit a graduate who wishes to gain in-school experience prior to undertaking teacher training as well as those who would like to pursue a career as a Teaching Assistant.

Application Pack

ArtsOne Drama Lead

“Prestigious Saturday Drama School with a reputation for unique performances”

We are looking for a dedicated drama specialist to lead workshops and rehearsals at this popular Saturday school and to help inspire and enthuse performers of all ages and abilities.  You will also provide quality feedback to pupils and parents to help pupils progress. You will be working with Key Stage 1 and 2 students between 9-11am and Key Stage 3 students between the hours of 11:30am and 1:30pm. There is also the potential of creating and leading a Key Stage 4 and 5 group between 2-4pm.

We have high expectations and set our pupils ambitious challenges.  Past performances have seen pupils performing ‘Punk Rock’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go’ at the Rose Theatre.

You will be working with the Arts One Drama team (one 6th former assistant) and the rest of the Arts One Saturday Schools team, which includes ArtsOne Dance and ArtsOne Rocks. You will also liaise frequently with the subject leader for Drama at Glenthorne High School.

Salary: £90 each day (going up to £130 upon successful creation of a KS4/5 group between 2-4pm)

The ArtsOne Drama sessions will take place on each Saturday of term time, totalling 36 Saturdays over the course of the academic year. Arts One will not take place during half-terms, Christmas, Easter or Summer Holidays.

About Glenthorne High School

Set in the London Borough of Sutton, the school converted to Academy status in 2011 and with its two sister schools, Abbey Primary and Aragon Primary, forms the Willow Learning Trust. Glenthorne High School is a comprehensive school with 1700 pupils on roll, from 11 to 19 years of age, and prides itself on a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.  Past Glenthorne pupils have been highly successful in securing Higher Education at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities and prestigious employment and apprenticeships.

Glenthorne is also the lead school for the Sutton Teaching Alliance and the Sutton SCITT, an outstanding provider of Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Training.

The school is a centre of excellence in the arts and offers selected places to pupils who demonstrate both talent and aptitude in the arts. 

In addition, the school has an ASD Base with 26 pupils.  This department is well resourced, and pupils are integrated into the life of the school.
