Assistant Site Manager

Salary: Grade 4/5 (£27 855 - £31 440 FTE)

Hours: Full time, all year contract.

Holidays: 24 days per year plus Bank Holidays

Glenthorne High School is a vibrant and inclusive environment where employees are appreciated and supported to enable our pupils to reach their full potential.  This is a busy and varied role and involves a wide range of duties including: H&S, general maintenance and set up of rooms for events. The successful candidate will join our Site team of five in providing excellent support in the smooth running of the school.   

The Site team work on a rota basis including early and later shifts and some Saturday working.  Experience in a building maintenance trade is important, experience of working in an education environment would be desirable. CPD can be provided for the successful candidate.

Set in the London Borough of Sutton, the school converted to Academy status in 2011 and with its two sister schools, Abbey Primary and Aragon Primary, forms the Willow Learning Trust.  Glenthorne High School is a comprehensive school with 1730 pupils on roll, from 11 to 19 years of age, and prides itself on a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.  Past Glenthorne pupils have been highly successful in securing Higher Education at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities and prestigious employment and apprenticeships.

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to academic excellence and help to embrace our mantra of “Achievement for All”, plan and deliver high quality lessons and be committed to achieving excellent results for students, instilling in them a love for the subject and a desire to learn. Teaching will be across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities available for teaching at KS5.

Post Title: Associate Lead Practitioner                               

Responsible to: Line Manager        

Grade/Scale: TLR3c                                  

All teachers are accountable to the Headteacher through their Line Manager.  The postholder will be expected to perform the following duties and meet the teaching responsibilities and standards as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions Document.  The postholder is responsible for promoting his/her own CPD to ensure that his/her skills, knowledge and understanding remain up-to-date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support identified teachers outside your own department on developing teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to whole school training on aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Act as an ECT Mentor.
  • Contribute to the ECT training programme as and when required.
  • Attend termly teaching & learning meetings led by the Assistant Headteacher responsible for Teacher & Learning.

Personal Qualities

  • Minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
  • Consistently outstanding lesson observations.
  • An interest in teaching and learning as demonstrated by research/reading of a range of different pedagogical approaches to teaching.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to coach colleagues to achieve positive results.

In addition to the above remuneration, Associate Lead Practitioners would receive one hour a week ‘inreach’ time allocated on their timetable.

Vocal Peripatetic Teacher

We are looking for a dedicated Vocal Tutor to teach and enthuse performers of all ages and abilities. You must have experience of working with young people and be passionate about singing. We are flexible about the repertoire pupils can learn and we would like you to go with their interests. It is not compulsory for pupils to work through graded exams, but it is strongly encouraged.

Lessons are for 30 minutes, and the parents will pay you £16 per lesson. Each term has 10 lessons. Lessons are paid in advance for the term and pupils have their lessons on a carousel basis. Some pupils receive funding for their lessons, and you will invoice the school for this at the end of the term. We have an Arts Administrator who will organise your timetable for you on a program called SOCS and you will be given parents contact details to be able to communicate with them directly.
