6th Form

Glenthorne Sixth Form offers a diverse, academic and creative curriculum in the context of a thriving community spirit. Our students are encouraged to persevere, to take responsibility for themselves and others, and to enjoy their learning. We are proud of the qualifications our young people achieve and most importantly, the high quality university courses and apprenticeships they go onto. In the past couple of years, we have helped our students secure the most prestigious courses at Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions as well as at world-renowned music and dance conservatoires and on highly competitive apprenticeships, including Facebook and the Cabinet Office.

Our sixth form students benefit from outstanding teaching and academic support that enables them to become independent and self-motivated learners. We have a large pastoral team with the Director of Sixth Form working alongside a Head and Assistant Head of both Year 12 and Year 13. This enables us to really understand the needs of each and every student and to support them through the tough challenge of post-16 study.

We offer a full range of A-level courses across the sciences, humanities and arts as well as a unique academy programme, which allows students to follow a specialist pathway, receiving teaching from practising industry professionals, alongside and in the context of an all-round academic curriculum.

From the beginning of Year 12, we ensure our students are planning their next step in life through our unique Progression Pathway lessons. Here we use dedicated curriculum time to support students to make informed career and university choices and work towards them right from the beginning.
